Seymour Krelborn

Little Shop of Horrors (1986)

PERSONALITY

Seymour can best be described as the sweetest murderer you’ll ever come across. Even at his current canon point of killing a guy, he doesn’t exactly enjoy the idea of killing people, even if he thinks they “deserved” it

In his heart of hearts, Seymour is a good person, or at least he tries to be. His kindness and gentle nature towards others is completely genuine which, while it’s shaken by the murder, has not been shattered by this point in his canon.

In fact, his kindness is actually what gets him to kill in the first place. While he is tempted by Audrey II’s offer to kill in exchange for fame and fortune, he still refuses to kill anyone until he sees a man being abusive to someone he cares about

At no point, however, does Seymour seem to enjoy the killing. Even though he’ll attempt to rationalize it to make himself feel better, he is very clearly traumatized by the murders and knows not-so-deep-down that this is wrong.

Despite how much of a genuinely good guy Seymour is, he is also a little selfish too. Not especially for riches and fame, but for affection. Because Seymour is so starved for affection, he tends to do questionable things just so he doesn’t lose them. This is especially evident in the full version of the song “The Meek Shall Inherit” (this takes place after his canon point, but the song details Seymour’s fatal flaws greatly). In the song Seymour states that he doesn’t care if he’ll be a nobody again, he’ll kill Audrey II just so no one else has to die. However that plan is changed because he realizes that he’s terrified that Audrey would dump him the moment he lost his money and fame and implicitly agrees to kill more people just to keep her around.

But even more than his selfishness, Seymour’s fatal flaw is that he’s too meek. Even if he is completely aware that something is not right or if someone is asking him to do something he absolutely does not want to do, he will still end up saying “yes”, either because he’s afraid of the repercussions of saying “no” or he rationalizes that “well, it really can’t be that bad, can it?” And even then, judging by the “The Meek Shall Inherit” song, even as he rationalizes it, he knows that whatever he’s uncomfortable about is wrong.

Similarly to being meek, Seymour suffers from a horribly low self image. This comes from his caretaker treating him like crap from a young age and growing up in a rough environment with little companionship or love. From a young age, Seymour was forced to do labor for his caretaker Mr. Mushnik, while to this day insults him for every mistake Seymour makes, it’s to the point that Seymour is clearly nervous to make any sort of suggestion to him. Also in the song “Skid Row”, it seems to imply that he will just quietly agree with any insult someone throws at him.

This is the biggest reason why Seymour tends to be clingy whenever anyone shows any sort of kindness to him. He tends to internalize his clinginess, so this normally doesn’t come off as creepy or even super desperate. However some days he will ask friends and other close ones if they actually like him. I imagine, if he develops more positive CR in Drift Fleet, that his clinginess will subside, but it will be hard to shake him off of this completely.

Because of his current canon point, he has also become rather traumatized by his murder. Even though he hated Orin, he was very obviously troubled by killing and chopping up his body in canon that he can’t sleep the following night

At the end of the day, it’s really best to describe Seymour as “really kind and genuinely well-meaning, but he’s such a bundle of issues.

ABOUT

Little Shop of Horrors is a story about a nerdy man who learns that a plant he bought one day feeds off of human flesh and so he starts killing people to keep it satisfied. More specifically this version is the 1986 movie adaptation of the musical, so beyond the basic premise you can just throw the 1960 version right out the window.

Seymour himself is the main character of the musical, and the aforementioned nerd and murderer. Despite being a canon murderer, he's a really sweet guy and is very traumatized by all the killing going on

APPEARANCE

This version of Seymour is played by Rick Moranis. You know, that guy who played the nerds in ever 80's-early 90's movie.

ABILITIES

-Has vast knowledge in plants and how to take care of them
-Generally looks very unassuming
He's not very skilled at this point

Inventory

Keep
- Default clothing - self explanatory
- Change of clothing - Various outfits he's found in the costume room, expect them to all be terrible. Almost definitely has one of These t shirts and has no idea what it really means
- Plants - His room is practically filled with glasses full of avocado pits and potted plants from the garden.
- T shirt canopy - Made during the first trial after party, not the most well crafted but he's not the best with scissors.
-Top Hat and Cane - A black top hat with a matching cane. You could probably perform a nice dance number with them.
-Rope - A coiled length of rope. It's just about long enough to reach from the floor to the ceiling.
-Meat Pie - One meat pie, still warm. It smells delicious...?
-Beans - A leather pouch with four beans inside. They don't seem to do much.
-Duct Tape - This thick black tape is the key to holding together any show!
-Bandage Wrap - A cloth bandage wrap used to treat wounds. It's bright white, so you can see it even from the back of the house.

Get rid of
-Plankton Plush - A tiny doll of a strange green cyclops creature. It has a malicious grin.
-The King - A wooden headpiece in the shape of a lion's head with a proud mane. Wearing it makes you feel regal.
-American Flag - An American flag folded into a triangle. It's wrapped with a thick black ribbon.
-Samael Scabbard - A scabbard with a gold globus cruciger design at the throat.
-Stabbing Knife - A knife that's perfect for stabbing someone! Except...the blade is dull, and retracts back into the handle when pressed upon. Maybe you can fake a stabbing.

The BalladeerHonestly Seymour has a hard time even disliking this guy. Despite the kidnapping and threat of murder thing he seems like a decent guy. Also he promised to get him some plants and he’s really freaking easy to please.
Anna of ArendelleThe Princess - From the past? Also a princess, but surprisingly nice for one
The Pirate KingThe Pirate King- A pirate but actually nice? Nearly cried when Seymour told him he’s an orphan and it kind of concerns him. Also very concerned for Seymour’s well being.
Raoul de ChagnyThe Charming Rival- A really cool and strong person. Seymour can't help but look up to him already. Also helped taught him how to fight a little!
Winslow LeachThe Sellout- Is really frightening to look at, but actually a really nice person? Is amazing at playing the piano and Seymour envies that a little bit, if he wasn't so awkward he would ask for piano lessons himself.
Hime ShirayukiThe Shrinking Violet- Blue hair??? A nice person otherwise, if not kind of loud. Seymour can't help but feel bad that someone so young is stuck here.
Natalie GoodmanThe Invisible Girl- Kind of intimidating, but then again, who isn't intimidating to Seymour?
Hans of the Southern IslesThe Mirror- Seymour really likes this guy already! He seems like he actually cares about him. Also has a sad childhood.
Jean ValjeanThe Breadwinner- Doesn't know a whole lot about technology. Thinks refrigerators are amazing
Gabriel GoodmanThe Superboy- A superhero?
Darla DimpleThe Starlet- Who let this child in here?
Heather McNamaraThe Best Friend- Doesn't seem much like a "best friend" to Seymour. Really, seriously intimidating. But apparently has a good sense of fashion?
Jezebel MephistophelesThe Hell Princess- Oh dear god an actual demon? Is weirdly nice for a demon, though. Seymour honestly wonders what has come of his life where an actual demon is nicer than some people he knows from home.
Shiva Shingetsu AstarteThe Vessel- Seymour only understands about half of what she says, but doesn't seem like a bad person? Also has never been to New York.
Inspector JavertThe Law- At least a law official is here?
Eliza HamiltonThe Helpless- Resident Team Mom
Captain HookThe Sleaziest Sleeze of the Seven Seas- Why exactly are there multiple pirates here?
Billy FlynnThe Silver-Tongued Prince of the Courtroom- By his title alone, Seymour gets the feeling that he's not the most savory of lawyers
Billy HarrisThe Doctor- Same face as The Balladeer, but more worryingly is quick to jump to the idea that they might all be clones. It scares him.
D-neThe Lonely- Who names their kid "D-ne"?
Audrey IIPlease don't die on me
